Crime is large in the US it is a big problem partly because of the gun laws for example you can go into Asda Walmart and buy one over the counter. This is Americas biggest problem that needs to be tackled.

When you add up all the costs, crime costs Americans a stunning $675 billion each year.

  • According to Home Office Recorded Crime Statistics there were 5.2 million offences recorded in the year ending March 2001, down 2.5% per cent on the previous 12 months.
  • Violent crime accounted for 14% of all recorded crime yet over the past five years violent crime has fallen by 22%, domestic burglary is down by 39%, and vehicle crime is down by 26%.
  • According to the British Crime Survey, in 2001/2002 3.5% of households were burgled, 7.1% of vehicle-owning households had items s.tolen from their vehicle, 1.7% a vehicle stolen, and 0.85 of adults were mugged.
  • In 1997, there were over 1.6 million domestic burglaries in England and Wales. Burglary is the crime most commonly referred to Victim Support, with nearly half a million victims of burglary being offered help each year.
  • It is estimated that one woman in four suffers domestic violence at some time in their lives, and that domestic violence accounts for a quarter of all violent crime.
  • According to the BCS (British Crime Survey) only 42% of all crime is reported to the police. The main reasons for not reporting included it being too trivial a matter; no real loss occurring or they considered it a private matter and dealt with it themselves.

Crime is quite a large problem in the uk d.rugs are very easily available and you can feel not safe to walk around your own neighborhood sometimes at night because the amount of hooligans on the streets.
